About our Hoopers Classes

Hoopers is an all-inclusive low impact dog sport, catering for both humans and dogs of all ages and abilities. No previous experience is necessary, we offer progressive classes for complete beginners to seasoned competitors.

Our class structure is designed to support you and your dog from foundation skills to a regular recreational activity, right through to competition level should you wish, whatever your goals, we are here to help!

Please note this is not a socialisation class and dogs are expected to work independently from one another, a reliable recall is ideal but not essential. If you have a reactive dog, please contact prior to booking as Hoopers classes might not be suitable, each dog and handler team are assessed individually, and one to one training is available, so you don’t have to miss out! Classes are restricted to four dogs to allow for adequate training time, so spaces are limited.

How to book

Does Hoopers sound like the perfect class for you? Head over to our online booking page to find our next available dates and to secure your place!

Our Hoopers classes are booked in four weeks blocks. Full payment is taken on time of booking to secure your place. Once booked, you will be sent a confirmation email with all the details that you need for the class, however if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Our Hoopers classes are designed as a progressive series, and we hope that you will attend the complete block to make the most of the training. On booking you will be added to our Hoopers Whatsapp group, where, if you are unable to attend a session for any reason, you will be able to sell or swap your place with other clients in the group. Please note if you choose to miss a complete block, classes have a maximum of four so places cannot be held and it will be offered to someone on the waitlist.

Classes at Pawsitive Intentions
Where will the training take place?

Training takes place in a secure paddock outdoors at Barton Under Needwood. Classes are rarely cancelled so you will need to dress appropriately for the weather. If the weather is unsuitable to train in, such as extreme heat or rain, the class will roll over to the following week and you will be notified as soon as possible. We recommend that puppies are fully vaccinated before the class due to wildlife accessing the paddock, high footfall of dogs and neighbouring livestock.

What methods do we use?

At Pawsitive Intentions Dog Training we use, modern, scientific reward-based dog training methods. This involves using food rewards or toys, alongside learning through play and games-based activities.

We prefer dogs to wear a harness, particularly if they need to work on a long line. Shock collars, choke collars and half choke collars will not be tolerated in class. We also ask that you do not bring extendable, figure of eight or slip leads to classes, as these are not suitable for training in. If you do an alternative will be provided for you for the session. All other equipment will be provided on the course.
